‘I am Elladora,’ she murmured, and the cluster of tentacles that he had taken to be dreadlocks running from the dome of her skull to the tops of her shoulders coiled up into tight knots, ‘Will you eat with me?’
Two of her tentacles eased their restless twitching and delicately extended themselves to the plate of food. With eerie grace the ends entwined themselves around morsels, lifting them in turn to her mouth. As she chewed, her strange eyes met Edric’s, who had been unable to tear his gaze away.
‘Is something wrong?’ she asked, as a third tentacle hovered before her face with its portion of food.
‘Er, no.’ Edric managed, hastily shovelling his own spoonful into his mouth.
