Welcome to the Rites of Spring Blog Hop! To celebrate, I'm sharing my hero's first kiss with you, from the heroine's point of view. At the end I'm offering a prize - a $5 Amazon or Barnes & Noble gift card AND a digital copy of my scifi romance short story Terms & Conditions Apply - if you can tell me what the hero asks of the heroine afterward. Please make sure you leave your email addy (in the format name at email dot com if you prefer) for your chance to win here. You'll then need to sign into the Rafflecopter at the end to say you've commented to be entered for the Grand Prizes - details on that at the end of the post. Good luck and enjoy!
Everything melted away at the touch of his lips, at the hardness of his body molded to hers. His desire coursed through her and muted everything else, swamping her anger and purging her tears. Wrapped around it she felt his uncertainty. His conviction that he was unworthy of her. The self-loathing she had misread as revulsion directed at her. She had been so wrong.
The kiss burned its way through her body, whispering in tongues of flame, telling her everything. That he wanted her. Needed her. That only his own doubts had held him back. How he had seen her as beautiful, without flaw, but so far beyond his reach he saw no reason to try.
He shook as he held her. Still afraid of rejection, still afraid she could not, would never, feel for him as he did for her.
Fresh tears filled her eyes. “Oh, Keir…”
He broke the kiss then, drew back, fear etched across his face. But he did not let go.
She brushed her hand against his cheek, saw hope ease the uncertainty from his eyes.
“Forgive me, Quin,” he whispered, his voice low.
She smiled then reached for his hand, held it tight in her own. Without another word she led him inside.

I know I'm way late and the giveaways are all over. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteReading this again reminded me that this kiss is on my list of all-time favorite first kisses. It has everything in it a good kiss description should have. I love them all about the emotion instead of physical description. That gets boring real fast.
Aww, thanks Rachel. :)
