On Hiatus

I'm taking a short break from the internet for August, so this blog will be a little quiet for the rest of the month and into the first week of September. In the meantime, there are scheduled posts going up every Wednesday at my cosplay blog - The Intergalactic Seamstress - and at the review blog Critique de Book, plus the odd up to date post at Spacefreighters Lounge on a Tuesday (or you can find my fellow crew mates posting Monday-Friday). See you when September comes!

Hello! As always, thanks for stopping by and your comments. Today is my birthday - yay! I'm officially the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything as proposed by Douglas Adams - 42. So, have a Pangalactic Gargleblaster on me, and if you're still conscious after that enjoy a snippet taken from Keir. He's arrived on another world with Quin during a celebration, and he's about to learn that sometimes you should ask what something is BEFORE accepting drinks from people...

Keir tried another mouthful of the drink, disliking the spicy aftertaste. “I am still not sure if I like this or not,” he told her out loud. “What is it?”
“Beetle juice,” she told him, without hesitation. He coughed in disgust, having already swallowed whatever was left in his mouth. “Beetles?”

Lol! Do you really think Quin would be that cruel to him? Well, you'll have to come back next week to find out. In the meantime, please check out the other authors taking part in Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday by clicking on the banner below.

  1. First off - Happy Birthday. Hopefully it's a great one. Secondly, Keir - don't say it three times or....wait, wrong story. Fun snippet. Why do we always accept when someone tells us to "drink this"? As bad as " this smells horrible, here you try it."

  2. I've learned to never question mysterious drinks. As long as it smells fine, go with it. That philosophy will probably kill me someday.

  3. Beetle juice? Sure he didn't mishear the name of a star?
And happy birthday, even if you're still hardly more than a child.

  5. Hey, just because it's made of beetles doesn't mean it's bad. It may very well be a great source of protein. :)

Happy Birthday! And I love the HH Guide, so I love your reference. <3

  6. Happy belated birthday!

That is a little mean of Quin--unless the beetle juice has unexpected (positive) properties. I look forward to next week :)
