Excerpt:
I was about to smile but she kneed me
right where a man should never be hit. I fell to the floor again, but this time
gripping my manhood. I winced and noticed Chris had Ryan’s mother sitting on
the chair next to the man he’d been fighting. He had them hypnotized.
“Chris,” I called in between breaths.
As he walked toward me, we both stared
at Ryan as she pulled out a few strands of my hair. It was so fast I didn’t
have time to react. I just grabbed Chris and teleported to the car.
“You okay, bro?” he asked after we’d
been driving for a few minutes.
I was still holding on to my groin.
“Not really. She’s a witch, that one!”
He shook his head. “She saved your
life.”
“And I saved hers. We’ve formed some
bad habits.”
“You think that’s it?” Chris asked.
“I don’t know. Yes. What is she
planning with Gabby? And what the hell does she want with my hair?”
“Gabby? That’s probably to make Dr.
Ryder do what they want. Your hair? I don’t know . . . because she’s obsessed
with you? Man, this is all kind of messed up.” He turned to look at me. “Is
that a tear?”
“I think I’m gonna lose my balls!”
“Hang on,” Chris said, pulling over to
a 7-Eleven. He went in and came back with a bag. “Here.”
“What is this?” I asked as I opened the
bag. “Ice. Yeah, thanks. We probably should never talk about this again, dude,”
I said, placing the bag on my crotch.
“What? That I bought ice for your
balls?” Chris laughed, and then cleared his throat. “Yes, let’s just—we’ll keep
that to ourselves. I’m not even sure it will help. The way I see it, it’s
better to be numb than in pain.”
“She was vicious with that knee,
though,” I said.
“I saw her. She concentrated just like
you taught her. So really, you should be proud of yourself. The more it hurts
the more you know your training with her was perfect.” Chris choked back a
laugh.
“Keep that up, everyone will know you
tended to me.”
His eyes widened. “Nah, that’s okay.
We’re good.”
