Six Sentence Sunday #54

Welcome to another #sixsunday post. A huge  thank you to everyone who stops by each week and comments. I'm doing this via my phone so I apologize for any errors. Keir is finally available to buy! So here's another snippet for you. :)
This is from later in the story than last week. Cornered by villagers unhappy with Keir's presence on their lands, Quin sees her companion clearly for the first time...

Muted sunlight flashed from a blade in motion. Quin wriggled in panic, expecting a fatal strike on her companion's undefended back. Instead, the sound of ripping cloth filled the air as Caimen slashed the robes and rags into useless tatters, stripping Keir's head and back to reveal the so-called demon underneath.
For a moment, Quin stared. Shock blazed a hot trail through her veins. Oh, Hades, I never thought it would be human...
