Pain etched through his skull. Green light blazed across his vision. Figures moved within the light and his gaze locked onto them. Knights in odd emerald armor, warriors of a kind he had never seen before. Mirrored lenses covered their faces, reflecting bright flashes that blinded him, and he raised a shaky hand to shield his eyes.
What are they? Who are they?
The warriors advanced relentlessly, and he pushed himself up, certain only of his need to escape. But his limbs shook and refused to support him, and he fell back among the rocks again. Rough surfaces scraped his skin and blood left a metallic tang in his mouth.
