Hello! Welcome to another #sffsat snippet. I've been dark for a few weeks as I battled with edits (oh, boy), but they're finally done and the book releases this Monday. Woo hoo! It's the long overdue sequel to my time travel novel Keir (only about six years in progress and about four years since book one released. Eish). But it's done and soon to be out at long last. In this exclusive excerpt, Keir has been cornered...in the munitions room on Lyagnius. Not a bad place to get trapped, right? So with plenty of things that go boom to chose from, Keir is going a bit Die Hard and attempting an escape out the ceiling on a floating platform (disk) as hostile invaders cut through the door...
Keir squeezed the triggers on his handful
of booby traps and counted.
1, 2,
3…
The disk lifted toward the ceiling as the
last of the door dribbled into a pool of red hot metal.
…5,
6…
The first soldier clambered through. As it
raised its weapon, he hurled his charges, still counting.
…8,
9…
The disk had almost reached the ceiling
when the charges went off, blasting smoke, fire, and debris up toward him. He
leaped for the narrow open circle of the roof access as the force of the
explosion surged up under his feet and tossed him through. Out of control, he
flailed then grunted as he hit the roof. Pain slammed into his shoulders and
spine, jarred down his ribs.
He tumbled across the ridged surface until
he smacked into a raised ledge. For a moment, the agony paralyzed him. His
breath came in sharp, shallow rasps.

Woo hoo! :D You did it! I bet it feels great to finally release this book into the wild! I really love the countdown. It gives a great sense of how quickly all this is happening (which can be easy to forget in novels, I find).
